Spurs and Liverpool to miss out on PSG midfielder

Tottenham are set to miss out on Paris St-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, who has confirmed that returning to Italy is his priority.

The 28-year-old has been linked with £25million moves to both Tottenham and Liverpool, but it looks as if Inter Milan could be his chosen destination, rather than a switch to the Premier League.

The Argentine international has only made 16 league appearances for PSG this season, of which eight have only been from the start and wants regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup, this summer.

He told the French media: ‘I want to play more since my objective is to participate in this summer’s World Cup. PSG?

‘I am happy here but at the same time, I know that I risk losing out on the World Cup.

‘I don’t know what will happen and yes there is a lot of talk about Inter Milan but let’s see. If I do leave, I would love to return to Italy since I know that league well.

‘Even so, there isn’t any decisions that have been made yet.’

It seems that Tottenham’s best chances of landing a PSG player lie in the pursuit of Lucas Moura, with many media outlets reporting that Daniel Levy and co are stepping up negotiations with PSG over the next 48 hours, ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
