Winks’ injury not as serious as initially feared

According to Sky Sports Harry Winks’ ankle injury is not considered serious despite the midfielders withdraw from the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Germany

The 21-year-old underwent scans on Monday and Sky Sports understands they revealed no damage to ligaments.

Young Harry suffered a twisted right ankle against Crystal Palace on Sunday and had to be withdrawn at half time but the article does say it’s not the same one he injured earlier this year.

Winks was out for several months over the summer after damaging ligaments in his left ankle in a freak collision with a pitchside ice box against Burnley in April.

The article adds that after sustaining a knock against Crystal Palace at Wembley Harry Kane is also missing and Dele Alli had already been ruled out with a hamstring strain that also kept him out of the Palace clash, however the article adds that Mauricio Pochettino expects him to be fit to face Arsenal in just under a fortnight’s time.

Pochettino said: “It is only a very small thing. It was a risk for him to play (against Palace) but for Arsenal he will be ready to play.”
