Ange Postecoglou responds to Kulusevski copying his words for Sweden team talk

Ange Postecoglou is pleased that his Tottenham players at least seem to be listening to his team talks, following Dejan Kulusevski’s claim that he took inspiration from the Spurs boss this week.

Kulusevski delivered a pre-match team talk to his Sweden teammates during the international break, and later told the press that he was inspired by Postecoglou’s speeches back at Hotspur Way (Fotbollskanalen).

Even Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak, admitted he was surprised by the way Kulusevski spoke, seeing as it was the first time the Tottenham winger had delivered such a team talk (Aftonbladet).

Postecoglou reacts to Kulusevski copying his team talk

Postecoglou joked that he was happy for the Sweden international to copy him as long as they win the game, otherwise it doesn’t reflect too favourably on the quality of his team talks.

The Spurs boss also admitted that he is happy to hear the people are actually listening to him in North London, as he talks such utter ‘garbage’ at times.

He said (Football London): “It’s okay if they win. I wouldn’t be happy if he was using my words and they didn’t win.

“You kind of hope – it is not always the case – that when you talk, people listen. You hope you can make an impact, not just from a football perspective but from a life perspective. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don’t.

“Sometimes there is probably a valid reason why they don’t listen because I can talk some garbage myself. If they can take away stuff that is positive, that’s great for me but more importantly shows me at least I am getting their attention most of the time.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Postecoglou is being modest as always. The Tottenham players are clearly always listening to him, because many of them have commended his team talks. There has also been so much progress on the pitch this season, they must be taking his words on board.
