‘No proposal’ – Fabrizio Romano denies Spurs have made offer for England international

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur have not made an offer for Jesse Lingard at present.

The Telegraph claimed yesterday that the north Londoners were considering bringing the England international to the club with Antonio Conte looking to bolster his squad for the challenge of Champions League football.

Spurs were said to have earmarked Lingard, following his release from Manchester United, who has the added bonus of being a homegrown player.

The 29-year-old is attracting interest from a number of other clubs, including rivals West Ham United where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

Lingard is likely to want to be a regular starter at his next club having not enjoyed consistent game time over the past season.

Given the competition for places within Conte’s squad, he is more likely to be a key player for the likes of West Ham United, where they lack the strength of depth that the north Londoners boast.
