Report: Tottenham could move for winger if club are relegated

Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are now circling over Armand Lauriente as Sassuolo edge closer to relegation from Serie A.

Sassuolo have had a campaign to forget but Lauriente has been one of the few bright spots for the club this season, having scored five goals and provided five assists in 34 league matches so far (Transfermarkt).

The Serie A side are currently languishing in 19th place and sit three points off safety and their fate hangs in the balance with just three matches of the season left to play.

Armand Lauriente is attracting interest ahead of the summer

Di Natale has now taken to social media to reveal that the Premier League pair of Spurs and West Ham United are both alert of Lauriente‘s situation.

The journalist added that more than one Serie A side along with an unnamed club from Ligue 1 have also expressed an interest in the Frenchman.

Di Natale suggested that the winger’s future could depend on whether Sassuolo manage to preserve their Serie A status.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Tottenham will enter the market for a winger this summer and Lauriente has an interesting profile, being able to operate in either flank and he has posted impressive numbers for struggling side this season.

However, I would imagine that Ange Postecoglou would want a player of a much higher calibre who can be a game-changing signing within the Tottenham first-team squad. Armand Lauriente is not quite that and would not walk into Tottenham’s starting eleven.
