Romano says Postecoglou is ‘convinced’ about Tottenham’s summer transfer strategy

Fabrizio Romano has said that Ange Postecoglou wants to add three or four talented players to the Tottenham squad this summer rather than going after a big-name superstar.

Most of Tottenham’s recruits under Postecoglou have hit the ground running since arriving at the club, with the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison and even Timo Werner proving to be excellent additions.

Some Tottenham fans will feel that in order for the club to make the next step and really challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool next season, they might have to make a couple of game-changing signs.

That is a strategy that has seemingly worked for Arsenal, who spent £100m to bring Declan Rice to the Emirates from West Ham last summer.

However, Postecoglou made it clear earlier this month that we will not see Spurs spending that kind of amount on a single player this summer, remarking that he would rather have two £50m players instead (Mirror).

Ange Postecoglou wants multiple Spurs signings

Romano has now revealed that the 58-year-old wants to bulk up the squad this summer instead of adding one or two superstars.

He told The Spurs Chat Podcast: “I think it will be solid players. I don’t expect a superstar. We know that Tottenham’s strategy is different and Postecoglou is convinced that this is the best strategy to add three or four players in multiple positions rather than adding one player or superstar.

“Players for the future and soild players who can help immediately as soon as they join the club, I expect an interesting summer for the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe we have already seen the last of £100m transfers as no Premier League side is now in a position to spend that much on one player, now that the PSR regulations are being strictly implemented. Spurs are certainly in a position to take advantage and go big this summer.
