Cardiff boss: Capoue set to go elsewhere

Cardiff City Malky Mackay boss has added weight behind the speculation that Etienne Capoue could be set to move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder who currently plays for Toulouse has a solid reputation in his homeland for being one of the best defensive midfielders in Ligue 1.

Both Spurs and Cardiff have had bids accepted for the 25-year-old worth in the region of £8.6million, with Capoue having chosen us over the Premier League newcomers. Capoue’s potential arrival would spell the end of life at Spurs for at least one of Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore or Scott Parker.

Mackay told a press conference ahead of their game against Athletic Bilbao: “We had a bid accepted for Capoue but he looks set to go elsewhere. I won’t talk about anyone else contracted to other clubs.”

Capoue scored seven goals in 34 games last season.
