There’s plenty of speculation this morning claiming that we are closing in on Barcelona striker David Villa.
The rumour mill started on Wednesday evening when the radio station Cadena Ser claimed that the Spanish international was close to a move to Tottenham.
We all know how short of striking options we have been at the season. Adebayor has been playing hide and seek with his form for the majority of the campaign while Defoe has battled injuries and the subs bench.
At 31, Villa would be a good signing for us. His record for club and country speaks volumes – he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during January but nothing materialised.
Let’s file this one under the same rumour mill as Leandro and Christian Benteke.
