Report: Spurs ready to raid Serie A side for player ahead of deadline

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to raid the transfer market for a new right-back in the next few days.

The Mirror report that the North London club are set to make a move for Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj.

Mauricio Pochettino saw Juan Foyth stretchered off during the Audi Cup final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night with an ankle injury.

Foyth will definitely miss Tottenham’s opening two Premier League matches of the new campaign at home to Aston Villa and the away trip to Manchester City following the red card he received towards the end of last season (The FA).

With Serge Aurier only returning to training late this week after undergoing an operation on his hand (Spurs official), it could mean that Kyle Walker-Peters is Tottenham’s only fit right-back for the start of the new season.

Hysaj is also said to be wanted by Roma and Juventus, with Napoli wanting around £20million for the Albanian international who can also cover at left-back.

Opinion

While Walker-Peters and Foyth both have raw potential, it concerns be that we do not have an experienced and reliable right-back. Aurier is too much of a liability defensively and we are certainly in need of a player who can add some reliability to the position.
