AC Milan legend predicts ‘difficult’ second leg against Tottenham Hotspur

AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko has told TuttoMercatoWeb that his former club should expect a very difficult test when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their Champions League tie next month.

The Italian side will travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on March 8, with a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg. The two teams met at the San Siro earlier this month and it was the Serie A giants who came away with the advantage.

A tight game was ultimately decided within the first ten minutes, when Brahim Diaz headed home after a hectic scramble in the box. Milan had the better of the chances throughout the game, with Spurs failing to carve out any clear-cut opportunities.

However, the second leg should be a very different game, with Tottenham hoping to make the most of their home advantage and the spirit of the Spurs supporters next month.

AC Milan are currently in fourth place in the Serie A table, but find themselves a huge 18 points adrift of league leaders Napoli.

Shevchenko has commented on what he has seen from Milan so far this season, but warned his former club that they will have a real challenge on their hands when they head to North London for the return fixture.

He said: “It will be a difficult away match in London. Tottenham play well at home and will pick up the pace. But I see a growing Milan that has found peace of mind.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With the away goal rule gone, we have a really good chance of taking the game to Milan at our stadium and if we can bag an early goal, it will make for an interesting affair.

I have faith that with the home crowd behind them, the players can step up and have what it takes to progress.
