The Champions League quarter final second leg between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will be remembered as one of the most intense and dramatic matches to have taken place in living memory.

When the draw was made for the last eight of the competition, many had regarded City to be the overwhelming favourites to beat Spurs.  However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side fought against the odds despite being ravaged by injury and showed the grit and determination to silence the doubters.

talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham showed his usual controversial and annoying manner by taking to Twitter to claim that Fernando Llorente’s late goal was a handbal incident and a dodgy VAR decision followed.

Spurs will now face Ajax in the semi final, with the first leg taking place in North London on Tuesday 30th April and the return leg in Amsterdam will be played on Wednesday 8th May.  The winners will face either Liverpool or Barcelona in the final.

Here’s what Durham had to say on Twitter.

  1. Things you’ll never hear Durham say.
    Peterborough have qualified for Europe,
Peterborough have just broken their transfer record of £5:00,
Peterborough have a recognised world class striker,
Peterborough have in the semi final for champs league,
Peterborough have got back into the championship,
Peterborough have just played their first game in their new state of that world class stadium.
I would go on all night you mug. Worry about that shambles and embarrassing no ambition team of yours and stay away from white heart lane if you hate spurs that much.
God forbid we should win the bloody thing you’ll have to report it. You need a slap son!!!!

  2. I find it hilarious that the station that prides itself on being about sport doesn’t understand the rules of the game.
Yes it hit his hand which was in a position tight to his body and therefore not handball, then it hit his hip and went in. Nobody with eyes can argue that visually and the rules couldn’t be clearer. Next year it will be ruled out under a rule change. They had program after program discussing it Thursday, there was no discussion point, except whethwr you like the rules or not. You could not seriously discuss what happened and whether it should be allowed. Embarrassing really.

  3. I think all the criticism of Durham is unnecessary. The fact that he isn’t very bright or interesting or qualified to do his job means that he’s not deserving of any attention.
