Alasdair Gold suggests date for Van de Ven’s potential Spurs return

Alasdair Gold has suggested that Micky van de Ven could perhaps be targeting a return to action during Tottenham’s trip to Old Trafford in the middle of January.

Van de Ven had an exceptional start to his Premier League career since his switch to Tottenham in the summer and was arguably the best centre-back across the division during the first few months of the campaign.

However, the Dutchman has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury at the start of November in the London derby against Chelsea.

Football Insider reported a couple of weeks ago that the 22-year-old is now stepping up his rehabilitation and is expected to be back in action in a matter of weeks.

This was confirmed by Van de Ven himself when he took part in a darts challenge on the Ally Pally stage over the weekend, with the Tottenham man stating that he will be back in training ‘within two weeks’ (Rob Maul).

Micky Van de Ven could target Man Utd game

Gold has suggested that the former Wolfsburg man could realistically target a return for Tottenham’s upcoming trip to Man Utd on Sunday, 14 January.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I wonder whether he (Van de Ven) ends up targeting maybe the Man Utd match, you’d think maybe would be more realistic but we’ll see.”

Davies has been excellent at left centre-back, which is why there is no need for Spurs to rush Van de Ven back. Postecoglou can afford to take it slow with the Dutchman and give him sufficient time to build up his fitness in training.
