Arsenal confirm deal for heavily Tottenham-linked player

Arsenal have this morning confirmed that they have completed the signing of Willian.

The Brazilian left Chelsea as a free agent earlier this month was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Football Insider claimed at the beginning of last month that Tottenham had made early moves to offer the winger a lucrative contract and sizeable signing on fee.

However, the 32-year-old will instead move to the other half of North London where he has penned a three-year contract with the club who finished eighth in the Premier League table.

Willian had snubbed a move to Spurs earlier in his career when he chose Chelsea over the lilywhites in 2013 even though he had completed a medical at White Hart Lane (The Sun).

The Daily Mail claim that Willian will earn £220,000 a week at the Emirates which would have made him Tottenham’s highest earner with Harry Kane said to take home £200,000 a week (The Sun).
