Sheffield United have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have completed a deal for Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker.

Everton were hoping to tie up a deal for 20-year-old Naughton, who caught the eye playing for the Blades at full-back.

Walker, 19, who operates as a central defender or right back, has made just two senior appearances for the Championship club and has represented England at Under-19 level.

It is thought that Walker will go back to Sheffield United on a season-long loan, while Naughton will push for a place in Redknapp’s side.

We’ll bring you more on this news as we get it.

Are you happy with the double deal?  Is this the start of a busy transfer window for Spurs?  Have your say below.

  1. They must be amazing if Harry’s transfer policy of only buying significant improvements is true. We’ve just got 2 players better than Corluka and Woodgate for less than £10m!

[/sarcasm] Don’t really get these transfers. I imagine they will be off to Peterborough for £500k a piece within 2 years if our past record is anything to go by.

On a positive note i hope Naughton is the new Glen Johnson. I suspect Walker is there to hold his hand.

  2. As a Blades fan of over 35 years, i am extremely saddened to loose two such players with emense talent and promise. Both are products of the Blades academy and he been a revelation since breaking into the first team. I envy Spurs fans as you will be able to witness these two week after week. They are without doubt two of the best young English players around. Get a bet on Kyle Naughton playing in the 2010 world cup. Good luck Tottenham and take care of these two

  3. All Blades fans are gutted to lose these two players. Both local lads who came through the excellent Blades academy system, I hope they continue to develop into the England players they have the potential to be under the less than impressive Spurs record of bringing on young players!

  4. Tottenham seem to have a kind of a sieve policy with young players, they are brought in and tested, if they make the grade we keep them, if not, they are sold on again for a small profit or the amount paid for them, this goes back to the Jol/Arnesen days. We have a fantastic future if the likes of the kyles, bostock, rose, mills and other english youngsters make the grade along with bale, dos santos and taarabt. I was sad to see Terry dixon didn’t make the grade, i was told by a friend who’s son plays for spurs, dixon was going to be our wayne rooney.

  5. not seen a great deal of naughton but what i’ve seen he looks very talented, in the glen johnson mold.. Any one know anything bout this walker fella, were his best position? what sort of player is he??

  6. Hi paterson.83

Kyle Walker best position is Right Back or Centre Half, i could also see him developing into a defensive midfield player, in the mould of a Makalele. He has the speed of a top winger and the strength of a top centre half.He needs more first team experience to make him ‘Streetwise’ but he has all of the right attributes to become a top player. I’m just glad we will get one more season out of him at the Blades. If you need evidence of the potential of both Naughton and Walker. Take a look at this years Championship play off.
