Bournemouth v Tottenham preview

Date: Sunday, 25th October, 2015
Time: 14:05 BST
Venue: Dean Court, Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur return from UEFA Europa League action on Thursday to travel to the south coast where they will take on newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten 2-1 at Anderlecht three days before their Premier League game. The hosts have had much longer to recover from their 5-1 thrashing at Manchester City last weekend, and to prepare, having not played midweek.

Bournemouth start the weekend only two points above the relegation zone and having lost five of their nine Premier League matches. Tottenham are still unbeaten since their season opener, having drawn 0-0 at home to Liverpool last weekend.

Many have Tottenham as the favourites to win this match but they have not always been the best after Europa League action. The Premier League tips for Spurs give them an outside chance of finishing the weekend in the Champions League places with a victory in this game and results elsewhere going their way.

Bournemouth’s home record isn’t great – beaten by Aston Villa, held by both Leicester City and Watford, but they did manage to beat bottom of the league Sunderland at Dean Court. That’s five points against four teams of whom three are currently in the bottom six.

Spurs have drawn their last three games in all competitions since thrashing Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane in late September. However, given Pochetinno’s reaction after the defeat to Anderlecht, you’d expect a big response from the Spurs player on the weekend. The exciting Max Gradel has been out since the end of August with a knee injury and last season’s top scorer Callum Wilson is ruled out for the season.
