Darren Bent has spoken of his relief at finally sealing his switch from Tottenham to Sunderland.
After weeks of negociations, which saw the 25-year-old later apologise to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after he vented his frustration on Twitter about the delay.
“It seems like it’s taken a long old time to come around, but now it’s finally here I’m delighted,” Bent told Sunderland’s website.
“I’m feeling relief more than anything as it’s been dragging on.”
“The club made a real play to get me. They made me feel wanted and that meant a lot to me.
“I know how passionate the fans are and how much they love football – it’s fantastic.
“There’s definitely a lot of potential here as the stadium and the training ground are second to none.”

Good luck to Darren as a Sunderland player (apart from when he plays us) now lets move on.
Darren is a lovely bloke but was never really accepted at Tottenham. I hope he is happier at Sunderland
