David Ornstein reports Bayern Munich CEO met with Daniel Levy on Thursday

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy had a meeting with Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen in London on Thursday.

It was widely reported at the start of the week that Bayern’s second offer for Kane, which was worth €80m (£68.4m) plus add-ons, was rejected out of hand by Spurs.

In fact, 90 min added that the offer was not even enough to bring Tottenham to the negotiating table, with the Lilywhites said to be adamant that their star striker is not for sale.

No second offer from Bayern for Harry Kane

However, according to Ornstein, Bayern did not submit any such offer. He states that the Bundesliga club’s only bid for Kane so far this summer was the €70m (£60m) plus add-ons they offered back in June, which was rejected by Spurs.

The journalist revealed that Dreesen flew to London on Monday morning to meet Levy over breakfast but remarked that no offer was submitted during the meeting.

Ornstein added that Tottenham remain hopeful of convincing Kane to sign a new contract, with the 29-year-old expected to fly with the Spurs squad to Australia today for their pre-season tour.

It is difficult to imagine that the meeting could have been about anything else apart from Kane.

The fact that Levy agreed to meet with Dreesen suggests that there is a price for the England captain this summer, despite Tottenham’s public stance that he is not for sale.

However, it would likely take an offer of around £100m to give Spurs something to think about and there is no indication that Bayern are prepared to bid that high.
