Davies lucky to have all his teeth after Kompany challenge claims former Spur

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Garth Crooks has claimed that Ben Davies is lucky to still have all of his teeth following his challenge with Vincent Kompany.

The Spurs left-back put in a heavy tackle against the Manchester City defender during the 3-1 defeat at Wembley on Saturday evening, which was missed by the referee. Many felt that the Welshman’s studs were up and should have been shown a straight red card.

Crooks told BBC Sport Online: “As for the tackle by Ben Davies on Kompany which was missed by referee Jon Moss – it was a shocker. Davies is a lucky boy – not to stay on the field but, by the reaction of Kompany, to have all his teeth.”

It’s uncharacteristic for ‘gentle Ben’ to make such a challenge, but in fairness when you look at the above he did look to pull out at the last minute.

The challenge left both players pointing at each other with Davies pleading his innocence. However, after the final whistle both players did shake hands and put the incident behind them. As far Crooks’ comments, I’ll leave you to have your say on it in the comments section, below.
