Dele to snub Madrid and co for new Spurs deal

Dele Alli has began talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a new contract worth over £100,000-a-week, according to reports in The Sun.

The England midfielder currently has four years to run on his existing deal at the club and currently earns around £50,000-a-week. He has already had two contract extensions since his move from MK Dons in order to reward the amazing progress he has made since becoming a Tottenham player.

The new contract will put Dele on similar terms to the likes of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane as the top earners at the club, and hopefully end the annoying rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

I have to admit, in recent matches Dele has not looked himself. His performances have been well below the standard which we normally expect from the 21-year-old, hopefully he can put pen to paper on a new deal and then get back to his best as we are certainly missing his quality in the final third.

There has been plenty of talk in the media recently about Dele changing agents to the likes of Mino Raiola who represents Paul Pogba. However, Dele apparently has more than a year left on his rep agreement with Impact Sports and the Football Association are not fans of players changing representation mid contract.

If Dele does indeed sign the new deal, it sends a huge message to the fans that he sees his future long term at the club. For so many years we’ve seen our best players come and go – but we need to start winning trophies!

What do you make of Dele’s performances this season? Have your say below

  1. Not sure it says anything about Deli Ali's commitment to Spurs. More like Levy seeking to maximise any sell on value and the player seeking bigger slice of any transfer deal in the future. If Ali gets £100k after his recent performances then Toby Alderweireld must get a new deal but Levy knows he has his name on a two year deal until 30yrs so probably doesn't fancy paying him a market rate as he will not get his money back when he leaves.

  2. I must admit Deli Ali’s performances this season have been below par. Both he and Toby should be on £100,000 per week, to be realistic and fair to them both, not to mention them having their heads turned by richer clubs etc etc !

  3. Dele Alli has been crap all season. I would be happy to sell, if Barcelona or Real Madrid offered good money for him.

Alderweireld is our best and only world class player and deserves to be the highest paid at Spurs.
