Dortmund have a Spursy afternoon to forget ahead of Champions League clash

Borussia Dortmund had an afternoon to forget as they threw away a three-goal lead and the chance of victory.

Former Manchester City academy player Jadon Sancho gave Dortmund the lead in their home Bundesliga fixture against Hoffenheim.

Lucien Favre’s side added a second just before half time when Mario Gotze found the back of the net. It looked as if they would cruise to all three points when Raphael Guerreiro scored a third, only for the tables to be turned with 15 minutes left to play.

Hoffenheim fought back and scored three goals in the space of twelve minutes to pull level and earn a point from the 3-3 draw.

The collapse from Dortmund saw rivals Bayern Munich close the gap at the top of the Bundesliga table to five points after they beat Schalke 3-1.

Dortmund were without star man Marco Reus for the fixture and he is still considered a doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League first leg with Tottenham.

Some may describe Dortmund’s afternoon as ‘Spursy’.
