Ex-striker claims Spurs star with ‘unusual technique’ would thrive in Spain and Italy

Former Inter Milan striker, Christian Vieri, has lavished praise on Harry Kane and admitted that he would have loved to play with the England captain.

Vieri was prolific in front of goal for every single club he played for throughout his career, as well as for the Italian national team. He recorded 476 career club appearances and 236 goals, as well as 23 in 49 games for his country (Wikipedia).

The 46-year-old certainly knows a thing or two about good strikers and he even mentioned Kane in the same breath as some of the greatest names in the game.

Vieri has played with some truly world-class strike partners over the course of his career but insists he would have linked up well with the Spurs academy graduate.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “He (Kane) is an exceptional player. I would have played well with him as a partnership. I had the Brazilian Ronaldo, Hernan Crespo, Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti, Baggio. I loved playing with the technicians.

“Kane is not the classic English striker: physically he does not have many muscles like Lukaku but he has dribbling, running, precise and powerful shots. In Italy, someone like him is said to have ‘soft feet’.”

The England captain has been linked with a move to Manchester United (Daily Mail), Juventus (Tuttosport), and Real Madrid (Diario Madridista) in recent weeks.

Vieri is confident that the 26-year-old has the technical quality to thrive in both Spain and Italy, stating: “I like Kane very much because he has an unusual technique and quality, he is beautiful to look at. La Liga or Serie A will be excellent leagues for him if he decides to leave London and Tottenham.

“He has no problem playing well in very technical leagues. Kane is not a No 9 like Alan Shearer, who was an idol for me, one of the strongest English strikers in history. But Kane is equally strong.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Foreign media, fans, and pundits always rave about Kane’s technical and physical qualities while he seems to get nothing but hate and accusations of being ‘overrated’ from English fans. There is no doubt an element of jealousy is involved there but it is just unfortunate that some people don’t seem to appreciate the Spurs star for what he is – a generational talent.
