Fabrizio Romano reports ‘very important’ contact between Spurs and European club

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on the Here We Go podcast that there was a ‘very important contact’ between Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur regarding Harry Kane on Thursday.

Yesterday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen flew to London to meet Daniel Levy over breakfast.

However, he stated that no official offer for Kane was presented during the meeting between the two club chiefs.

Ornstein added that Tottenham remain hopeful of tying their star striker down to a new contract and that the 29-year-old is expected to fly to Australia with the rest of the squad for pre-season.

Important contact between Bayern and Tottenham

Romano has now seemingly backed up that claim regarding a meeting, remarking that Bayern made ‘an important contact’ with the Spurs hierarchy about Kane.

The journalist said that the German club made it clear to Tottenham that they do not want to give up on the deal, but he added that talks are still not at a ‘crucial stage’ between the two sides.

The fact that Levy agreed to meet with Dreesen suggests that the Tottenham chairman is open to selling Kane if his asking price is met.

It is anyone’s guess what sort of fee Levy would deem acceptable but it is unlikely that the 61-year-old would consider anything below £90m-£100m.
