Finance expert claims latest commercial deal could be a boost for Spurs

Football finance expert, Kieran Maguire believes that Tottenham’s commercial partnership with OneFootball could be a huge boost for the North London club since it will help to expand their global reach.

Spurs announced last week that the club had become a partner of OneFootball which is the most popular digital media platform in the world among young football fans.

The club revealed that they would be working together with the platform on exciting new digital initiatives alongside Tottenham’s commercial partners.

Spurs already have a long-standing relationship with Dugout, the UK-based football media company, who were acquired by OneFootball in December 2020.

This is just the latest in a long series of efforts that Tottenham have undertaken over the last few years to grow the club’s commercial appeal, with Amazon Prime’s All or Nothing documentary being a great example.

Maguire believes that the partnership could prove majorly beneficial for the Lilywhites even though the club might not be OneFootball’s number-one priority.

He told Football Insider: “It’s got 85m active users. It’s got a fantastic reach and that will help create a buzz about the club.

“Spurs aren’t the same level as a club like Bayern and Onefootball is a German platform so there will be more of a focus there.

“They have got Real Madrid and Barcelona as shareholders. Spurs will not be top of the list in terms of getting regular views and there will be an element of overlap with their own website.

“But providing the cost of buying into the system is relatively modest then, especially if Spurs have a couple of good years on the pitch, then that can be used as a vehicle to expand the interest in the club.”
