First Bennetts, then Griffiths; now another Spurs starlet is liked with exit

Marcus Edwards

Marcus Edwards looks set to be the next highly-rated youngster to depart Tottenham Hotspur with Bayer Leverkusen said to be interested, according to The Sun.

Edwards was tipped for a bright future at Tottenham, when he made his first-team debut at 17 but has failed to live up to his talent since.

Mauricio Pochettino once likened the midfielder to Lionel Messi, however his poor attitude and lack of time keeping saw Norwich City cancel his loan spell last season in which played just six minutes of first-team football.

The 19-year-old still has two years to run on his professional deal at Spurs and the German outfit are reported to have made contact with Spurs officials to begin initial talks over a move before the transfer window closes next Thursday.

Edwards would join Reo Griffiths and Keanan Bennetts in departing the club this summer.

  1. Spurs will regret letting all this young talent go.Like u stated griffiths, bennetts, edwards were all expected to force themselves into the first eleven now they are all gone. They keep saying poch is great with young players and will bring them on but when u look at the players leaving,if i was a young player looking for a team i think i would be looking at a team like lyon .They might be paying 50-60m to get them back in the future. I’ve heared that falque, who they let go a few years ago,is now attracting spurs attention. We are just a couple of great signings away from being a title winning side and this season looks like being a disaster.

  2. Nonsense Griffiths is just hyped by the media. He scores 4 against the scum and all of a sudden he is Van Basten. Look at his other performances and he clearly struggles. He is nowhere near the first team so sell him and watch him fail. Can you name any youngster we let go whos now a success? Falque???please
Ismail Azzaoui Bostock Tarrabt remember the fuss about selling them….what are they doing now?
I trust our coaching staff over newspaper hacks anyday
