Five things we learned from Spurs’ dismal display against Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur needed a win today against Bournemouth to secure a top-four place for another season, ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, after Heung-mon Son and Juan Foyth both saw red, a nine-man Tottenham struggled to hold on to a point, and eventually succumbed to an injury-time Nathan Ake header from a corner.

Spurs have now two huge games left to play starting with Wednesday night in the Champions League semi final second leg against Ajax, followed by the final Premier League game of the season at home to Everton.

The worst possible match for Tottenham today. Pochettino would have been hoping that such a strong starting line up could get the job done early, allowing him to rest key players. However, not only did Spurs lose the game, but they were also left with exhausted players by the end of the match after a huge defensive effort. Not what you want ahead of the Champions League on Wednesday.
