Yves Bissouma says he has put the struggles of last season behind him and is keen to show Tottenham fans the best version of himself during the upcoming campaign.
Bissouma endured a disappointing first season at the North London club, having struggled to break into the starting eleven for the first part of the campaign before missing a big chunk of the latter half of the season with an injury.
The Mali international will hope to put things right this season and reports indicate that he has already won over Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff (Football.London).
When asked how keen he is to prove himself after 2022-23 campaign he endured, Bissouma responded: “Last year is last year. I don’t have to talk about last year. It’s the past.
“You have to look forward and focus on the future. I’m trying to work really hard to be ready for the season.
“I’m here for the club, for the fans as well. We work hard to have a good result. Like all the players. Not just me. I say thanks to the fans because they give me motivation. They want to push me up. At the same time, I’m working hard to do what I have to do.”
The 26-year-old will have a new midfield partner in James Maddison for the upcoming season and he admitted that he is excited about what the former Leicester City star can bring to the side.
When asked about the England international’s arrival, Bissouma said: “Everyone knows he’s an amazing player. We know he’s going to help us a lot with his experience. We’re confident with him.
“We’re trying to push him like we push each other. He’s a really good guy. We’re happy to be with him and we know he’s going to help the team.”
The former Seagulls star also insisted that Tottenham are setting their aims quite high in their first season under Postecoglou.
He declared: “We always have big ambitions. Everyone knows the Premier League is not easy but we’re working to get ready and we’ll see.”

There is no doubt that Bissouma was stifled by Conte’s system, with the Italian deciding fairly early on that the Mali international did not have the tactical discipline to play in his two-man midfield.
There is no doubt in my mind that the 26-year-old would thrive next season due to the freedom afforded by Postecoglou.
