Former West Ham striker believes Spurs star is the best in the world in his position

Former West Ham United forward Dean Ashton believes that Harry Kane is the best striker in world football.

Ashton claimed that only Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski is in the same class as the England skipper.

Spurs fans got to witness Lewandowski’s quality for themselves when he scored during the recent 7-2 Champions League defeat in North London.

The 26-year-old has found himself captain for both club and country following Hugo Lloris dislocated elbow.

While Kane is the skipper of the England national team on a permanent basis, Ashton claimed that it is difficult for other strikers such as Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham to try and edge out the Spurs star from the starting line up.

Kane has scored six goals in ten Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season and will be looking to add to his tally this afternoon when he is expected to take to the field at Goodison Park to face Everton.

Ashton told Goal: “I think he is at the moment. He’s certainly up there with [Robert] Lewandowski in terms of an out-and-out No.9.

“At the moment it’s going to take some unbelievable performances and maybe a dip in form for him to lose his place for England.

“His scoring record, the way he leads the line and being captain as well, it’s difficult for a Tammy Abraham or anyone else, but they just have to keep scoring goals.”
