He is … a genius! The speed with which he played that ball for the assist for the first goal, the vision, the touch! His vision, speed, touch for the second and the side-foot for the goal itself! Of course, we’re in raptures – it was a harum scarum derby game … no one had time to receive the ball let alone do something of that order with it. (In addition, he found time to take on the Arsenal players and a small proportion of their supporters too.) He was the difference. He was a joy.

Match Summary

It was only our second win at the Emirates, revenge for earlier in the month, a semi-final berth but it was even more than that – it was a titanic performance.

After a sluggish display against Burnley, it was everything we didn’t see that day. For a period Spurs dominated in the first half and they played with zip and penetration. For almost the entirety of the second half they developed their impressive pressing game into a fabulously resilient defensive display.

But they won because, allied to that consummate team performance, they had the impudent genius of one completely exceptional footballer.
