He missed several passing opportunities and his corners are still weak but he was great. No question at all about his commitment. His touch for Harry Kane’s effort against the post … exquisite. I know Seb Jenkins talks about his running – I concur; I defy you to put up anyone else who does the lung busting charge at any time in the game more than he does and often in a lost cause. It was how he got his goal today.
Granted, in true derby fashion, it was a ridiculous game and an entertaining one. At times, we showed we can play best as a breaking team (sadly something we will rarely get the opportunity to do). At times, we were on the ropes and looked to have no confidence defensively nor any to keep the ball in midfield.
I’ll take this though … as work in progress. I’d rather be moving forward from this place, as uneven as the performance was.
The energy and determination are good to see and some moments where we looked dangerous and exciting. The confidence and the complete performance will come.
