When Spurs can seem a bit meandering and aimless, it’s Son who makes runs, creating possibilities, being available. He hit the post early on, and produced a great shot on the run which really needed saving. His goal was straightforward but he deserved it for being our best outfield player.
Match Summary
It was a tepid affair. Let’s face it after Sunday’s trauma it was just what the team needed in terms of rehab. Southampton were so tentative that Spurs grew increasingly sloppy, finally – with a three goal cushion – relinquishing the contest entirely, allowing Southampton to pass prettily in front of them. The goal was somewhat inevitable and who would begrudge Southampton the consolation?
The result, coupled with Chelsea and Arsenal’s inability to get three points in their respective matches last night means that Tottenham move up to third in the Premier League table.
