Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter to Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to share his reaction to the news that Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked.

Spurs released a statement on their official site earlier this evening that the Argentine has been relieved of his duties as manager of the North London club.

Lineker was not impressed with the decision of Daniel Levy and claimed that Pochettino had helped Spurs to punch above their weight for years and will struggle to find a better man to lead the club.

Pochettino was in charge for 293 games and delivered four successive top-four Premier League finishes, whilst also challenging for the Premier League title in 2015/16 and 2016/17.

However, they won just three of their first 14 games of the Premier League season, and were thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and lost to League Two Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

The Argentine leaves with Spurs in fourteenth place in the Premier League table.
