The question of who is to partner Pavlyuchenko up front against Stoke has been answered in Peter Crouch’s favour thanks to an injury to Defoe. A much needed stroke of luck for Crouch, who looks to be in good form but hasn’t been able to force his way in to Spurs’ line-up thanks to the free-scoring Russian.

First Goalscorer

Roman Pavlyuchenko – 5/1
Peter Crouch – 6/1
Eidur Gudjohnsen – 15/2
Niko Kranjcar – 9/1
Luka Modric – 9/1

Not that there’s a goal-spree in the offing at the Brittania Stadium. Stoke edged a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane back in October and will be looking to emulate Wolves by completing the double on Saturday. The result had more to do with Spurs’ poor finishing and some last ditch defending from Stoke then anything else but it will help the home side’s confidence going in to this game.

Spurs’ away form has been patchy all season and this looks like it’s going to a tough tight game which will need to ground out. Modric and co will be harassed and closed down all game so they’ll need to be at their sharpest to move the ball through the midfield. Crouch offers the option of the long ball and it will be interesting to see how he hooks up with Pavlyuchenko.

Correct Score

Spurs to win 1-0 – 11/2
Spurs to win 2-0 – 17/2
Spurs to win 2-1 – 7/1
Spurs to win 3-0 – 18/1
Spurs to win 3-1 – 14/1

Both sides know how to defend and Stoke are a tough prospect for anyone at home. That being said, Spurs have the greater attacking options and if they can show the kind of resilience needed to finish in the top four, then their in form Russian frontman could fire them to a well earned 2-1 win.
