‘Getting closer’ – Cristian Stellini provides positive injury update

Cristian Stellini has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Brighton and Hove Albion press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

The Italian continues to lead the first team after taking up the role of acting head coach following the departure of Antonio Conte during the international break.

Stellini’s first game in charge was yet another frustrating affair for all involved after they once again failed to hold onto their lead against Everton, only to drop two points which could prove to be costly in the race for a top four finish.

With Manchester United and Newcastle both victorious last night, Spurs now find themselves in fifth place in the table and a win for the Seagulls on Saturday could see them move to within a point of the north Londoners and have played two games fewer.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Roberto Di Zerbi’s side.

He told Football.London: “No good news about players that come back for the next game. We are getting closer with Richarlison. He trained on the pitch but he trained alone. We are going well with Ben Davies with the plan but we have to wait a bit for him.

[Richarlison] trained on the pitch. He is going well and for the next game he could be available.”
