Several Spurs players came away with plenty of credit for their display in the 2-0 win against Manchester City, with debutant Steven Bergwijn understandably taking most of the plaudits for a fine performance and a fantastic goal.
Harry Winks has also been heralded for a fantastic display in midfield in a game where he had to do a lot of chasing and saw very little of the ball; with his marauding run in the second half proving to be costly for City following the dismissal of Zinchenko.
However, Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has singled out Japhet Tanganga for his performance and suggested that the youngster showed a fantastic mentality against the Premier League champions.
Tanganga has been a regular in the team over the past few weeks since making his debut against Liverpool and so far the 19-year-old has displayed maturity beyond his years.
The youngster started at left-back against Pep Guardiola’s side and had to contend with one of the trickiest attackers in the league in Riyad Mahrez, but Tanganga once again managed to hold his own against his experienced opponent.
Here’s what Roberts tweeted about the defender’s performance on Sunday:
We just bloody needed that fantastic for us 👏👏👏the boy @JTanganga99 for his age an absolute superstar amazing mentality. And so happy for Stevie! COYS

What stands out about Tanganga is not just his maturity but also his unbelievable versatility. He has looked at home across the backline which certainly bodes well for his future. While it is still early days, if he keeps his form up, there is no reason why he cannot make the England squad for the Euros.
