Graham Roberts sums up Spurs’ loss to Newcastle in just five words

Newcastle United were the unlikely side which caused Tottenham Hotspur their first Premier League defeat of the new campaign yesterday afternoon.

Steve Bruce’s side went into the fixture still looking for a point from their opening two matches against Arsenal and Norwich City and picked up all three against a Spurs side who were there for the taking.

Spurs lacked the creativity to break down a well drilled defensive display from Newcastle with their four-man midfield spending a large portion of the match sitting deep in front of a back five.

With the Spurs boss deciding to bench Christian Eriksen, the home side looked lost in trying to unlock the Toon defence.

After the loss, former Spurs defender Graham Roberts took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the performance.

Mauricio Pochettino now has a big task of getting his players ready for their next match, a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the North London derby.

Here is what Roberts had to say.
