AVB on Defoe’s injury

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe will miss England’s friendly against Brazil due to the ankle injury he sustained at West Brom.

Defoe went over his ankle in the first half to avoid a challenge from Baggies striker Shane Long and had to be helped off the pitch. He was later seen watching the remainder of the match from the Spurs bench with a crutch in his hand.

AVB confirmed to the press after the victory that the striker would be sent for a scan to determine the extent of the damage and will be withdrawn from Roy Hodgson’s squad.

  1. Now that Defoe is out and Adebayor is the main man perhaps he'll start working a bit for the team and get some game time. Oh and a few goals wouldn't go amiss. To me, in the few moments that he's played for Spurs he's looked like a lazy Berbatov, and that's saying something.
