Jermaine Jenas predicts Spurs star will be the biggest thing since Harry Kane in N17

Jermaine Jenas has backed James Maddison to eventually go down as the second-best player in Tottenham’s modern history after Harry Kane.

Jenas did a segment for Mail Sport where he had to pick an eleven between his former Tottenham teammates and the current Spurs team.

The pundit had to make some difficult choices, not least having to choose between Robbie Keane and Maddison.

While Maddison has hit the ground running at the North London club and has looked a cut above any midfielder the club have had since Christian Eriksen, Keane is one of the club’s biggest legends of the Premier League era.

The Irishman not only scored 132 goals over the course of his two spells at White Hart Lane, but he was also a creative force, often dropping into the hole, and forming a fantastic partnership with the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Jermain Defoe.

How high can James Maddison go with Tottenham?

Jenas gave his former Tottenham teammate the edge but added that Maddison is on his way to becoming a legend for the club.

When asked to choose between the pair, the pundit said: “Ouch, that’s very tough. I’m going to go Keano. All the songs are about Keano. And I think Maddison is going to be that. I think he’s going to be the biggest thing at the club since Harry Kane.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Keano was one of my first Spurs heroes, so I am quite biased when it comes to this question. However, Maddison has just oozed class from the day he walked through the door and there is no doubt in my mind that the midfielder will have a fantastic legacy at the club by the time he is done.
