Jose Mourinho reveals details of Tanguy Ndombele’s latest injury issue

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has provided further information on the injury which Tanguy Ndombele has sustained.

The club record signing picked up an issue behind his knee while training at Hotspur Way on Monday with other members of the Spurs squad who did not feature in the 2-1 North London derby victory against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Portuguese admitted that Ndombele had to stop training as a result of the niggle and hoped that it is not a serious problem with the Frenchman considered a doubt to face Newcastle United tomorrow evening.

The former Lyon player has failed to cement himself in Spurs’ team during his first season at the club and found himself being singled out for criticism by Mourinho following his lack of effort in the 1-1 draw at Burnley in early March (BBC).

Ndombele has only played 64 minutes of Premier League football since the resumption of the top flight (transfermarkt).

“He was training with the group of players that didn’t play against Arsenal and then in one action he felt something behind his knee,” Mourinho told Football.London.

“Nothing major, nothing really big but enough for him to leave the training session and to be observed before the training session.”
