Journalist claims club have agreed deal to sign Spurs star on loan despite reports

The editor of the Turkish outlet Fanatik, Ethem Sendek, has claimed that Galatasaray have agreed a deal with Tottenham to sign Tanguy Ndombele on loan.

Just a few days ago, we relayed a report from L’Equipe (05/07/23 via Sport Witness) which claimed that Tottenham had turned down an offer of €20m (£17.1m) from Napoli for Ndombele.

The report explained that this was because Ange Postecoglou wanted to give the midfielder a chance to prove himself, with the Australian said to have been a longtime admirer of the Frenchman.

This was also backed up by Dan Kilpatrick, who reported in The Evening Standard on Friday that there is ‘ fresh optimism’ at Hotspur Way that Ndombele could resurrect his Spurs career under the new regime.

However, reports from Turkey have continued to suggest that Galatasaray are keen on landing the midfielder on loan, with Fotomac reporting on July 4 that the Istanbul club are ready to step up their interest in the 26-year-old.

Galatasaray have an agreement in place for Ndombele

Sendek has now gone a step further, asserting that the Turkish giants have reached an agreement with the North London club to sign Ndombele on loan.

The journalist claims that Spurs have not charged a loan fee for the former Lyon man and that Galatasaray have agreed on a wage package of €2.5m (£2.1m) with the player over the course of next season.

He adds that the move is now dependent on the future of Lucas Torreira, who has been linked with a move away from Galatasaray, and on whether Okan Buruk’s men are able to secure the services of Leandro Paredes.

Given that many of the highly reliable sources, including the likes of Alasdair Gold, Dan Kilpatrick and Charlie Eccleshare, have reported that Postecoglou wants to give Ndombele a chance to prove himself, this report seems pretty outlandish to say the least.
