Journalist claims Parrott is set to play against Colchester

Tottenham Hotspur are set to hand a first team competitive debut to Troy Parrott this evening.

The Mail football news correspondent Sami Mokbel has taken to Twitter to break the news.

Parrott would become the first Irish player to pull on a Spurs shirt since club legend Robbie Keane.

The 17-year-old forward impressed during the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and also during the Audi Cup where he hit the post against Real Madrid.

Parrott joined Spurs from Belvedere FC in July 2017 and has impressed during his time at the club’s academy which has seen him also prove he can make the grade at Under 23 level despite his relatively young age.

Mauricio Pochettino has certainly shown his faith in Parrott having included him on a regular basis in first team training at Hotspur Way and has travelled to matches with the first of the senior squad on more than one occasion this season.
