Journalist claims Spurs centre-back target is ‘more likely’ to move in the summer

Dan Kilpatrick has reported that Alessandro Bastoni is more likely to move this summer amidst links with Spurs, while Conte wants reinforcements at centre-back, in midfield, and in goal.

Tottenham were linked with Bastoni throughout the summer of 2020, with the player reported to be a top target for Antonio Conte (Football.London). However, Spurs were told that he was set to remain with Inter Milan (Football Italia) so they moved to sign Clement Lenglet on loan instead.

Journalist Lyall Thomas told the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel that Spurs will make another attempt to sign Bastoni again this summer, but Fabrizio Romano added that Inter are about to open talks with the centre-back about a new contract.

Kilpatrick has now revealed in his column on Yahoo Sports that although Antonio Conte wants reinforcements in midfield, at centre-back and in goal, none of those areas are likely to be strengthened before tomorrow’s January deadline.

The journalist added that the Spurs boss previously wanted Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat but both are now more likely to be on the move in the summer.

He also explained that Tottenham have identified Jordan Pickford, David Raya and Jan Oblak as their top targets to replace Hugo Lloris but none of those three will leave their respective clubs before the deadline.

The only other player that I can see Spurs putting in a late bid for is Zaniolo but even that appears unlikely. The interesting thing will be whether Spurs actually get Pedro Porro over the line or not.
