Journalist claims Spurs star might leave permanently if a ‘good offer’ arrives

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to offload Lucas Moura before the transfer window shuts if a decent offer arrives for the Brazilian.

It is now clear that this is going to be Moura’s last season at Spurs after the North London club decided not to take the option to extend the winger’s current contract, which runs out in the summer (The Telegraph).

The Atheltic reported a couple of weeks ago that the 30-year-old would prefer to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season rather than during this window.

However, reports over recent days have indicated that Moura is the subject of interest from the Premier League as well as from Europe, with Everton (Andre Hernan- YouTube) and Roma (Tuttomercatoweb) thought to have explored a move for the winger before the deadline.

Sheth has now revealed that Antonio Conte’s side will be receptive to offers for the former Paris Saint-Germain man over the coming days.

The journalist told Transfer Show on Sky Sports (25/01/23): “Lucas Moura is another one. Tottenham aren’t going to trigger the one-year option in his deal, so he will definitely leave in the summer. They might even, if they get a good enough offer, allow him to go this month as well.”

I do not even think it will take a ‘good offer’ for Tottenham to offload Moura. An offer of even around £5m-£8m would likely be enough, given the Brazilian’s contract situation. However, I would be surprised if he leaves this window as it seems like he has made up his mind to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
