Journalist rubbishes claims of Spurs player being overweight

Tanguy Ndombele became Tottenham Hotspur’s club record signing in the summer when he arrived from Lyon for a fee of €62m (£55.45m) plus €10m in add-ons (Guardian).

The French international marked his Premier League debut against Aston Villa with a goal but has since experienced a frustrating time in North London.

Ndombele has struggled to play regularly after a succession of knocks and strains which have kept him out.

He also controversially missed the Boxing Day victory against Brighton because he “was not in condition” to play, according to Mourinho after the win (Football.London).

The midfielder was photographed returning to training at Hotspur Way following the international break last week which led to some supporters claiming that he looked overweight.

Ndombele has struggled with weight issues during his time in France with Guingamp having refused to hand him a senior contract for such reasons (The Guardian).

Football journalist Alasdair Gold was in attendance during Tottenham’s open training session at Hotspur Way to squash the rumours over Ndombele’s weight by insisting the photo which surfaced was taken at a particular angle and instead looked lean during yesterday’s workout (Football.London).
