Journalist says one Harry Kane claim should be ‘taken with a pinch of salt’

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has said on Sky Sports’ Football Daily that Financial Fair Play restrictions would not necessarily stop Manchester United from making a move for Harry Kane this summer.

On Sunday, The Mirror reported that Man Utd have been left on ‘red alert’ after Tottenham’s majority owner, Joe Lewis, issued an ultimatum to Daniel Levy that Kane would be sold if he does not sign a new deal.

The report explained that United had walked away from negotiations for the England captain earlier this summer after being quoted a price of £110m by Spurs.

It was alleged that the Red Devils are now monitoring the situation as there is some renewed hope at Old Trafford that the striker’s price could drop after the ultimatum issued by Lewis.

FFP not necessarily a roadblock for Kane deal

Solhekol has now said suggestions that FFP restrictions might stop United from pursuing Kane should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The journalist explained that the Glazers are the main reason that United are not willing to move for the 29-year-old, adding that the club would have no issues paying the striker’s transfer fee and wages if there is a change in ownership.

It is clear that Levy is not going to sell Kane to a Premier League rival. The striker himself appears to prefer a move to Bayern Munich, which is not surprising as he would have a much better shot at winning major trophies at the Bavarian club than he would at the Manchester side.
