Journalist thinks Spurs actually want third highest transfer price of all-time for Harry Kane

According to journalist Dean Jones, it will take an offer of around £120m to convince Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to part ways with Harry Kane this summer.

After an abysmal campaign all around for Tottenham last season, the incredible performances of Harry Kane were the only thing worth cheering about for Spurs fans by the end of the campaign.

However, there is a fear that Kane, who has now entered the final year of his current contract, could be set to depart the club this summer. Either that, or he may leave for free next year.

Bayern Munich are seemingly leading the race to sign the England captain as things stand. The German outfit are growing in confidence that they can secure the signing of the Spurs man, and are planning to offer £80m for him soon (Daily Mirror).

Some sources (FootballInsider) have previously reported that Spurs want over £100m for Kane this summer, but Jones believes the exact figure may be more like £120m.

£120m equates to around €140m, which would place it third in the all-time rankings behind Neymar and Kylian Mbappe (TransferMarkt).

Daniel Levy would consider selling Kane for £120m

While Daniel Levy may be insistent on keeping hold of his star striker, Dean Jones reckons there is a limit to that stance and that the Spurs chairman would seriously consider selling Kane if they got an offer of £120m.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “Daniel Levy has a real conundrum if Bayern commit to a bigger offer because this is his last chance to get big money for Kane and, at the same time, get him out of the country so that he can’t harm Spurs in the next couple of years.

“It’s probably the most intriguing part of this. In a year’s time, he could end up at [Manchester] United or Chelsea or at another rival club on a free transfer, but if he joins Bayern now, he’s almost certain to stick with them for a couple of seasons while he collects his trophies.

“Now, that totally goes against everything briefed because Spurs are adamant still that Kane is not for sale — in England or abroad. But everyone is wondering if the businessman in Levy can genuinely stick to that line of thinking. And actually, I’m told there is a point at which he would listen to offers.

“Here’s what I’ve heard: If Bayern make an overall offer that gets above and beyond £100m, then it would have to be considered. And when I say beyond, I’m talking £120m.

“So let’s face it — that is unlikely. Bayern are serious about trying to sign Kane and they have been given assurances that he is willing to do it. But can they actually get to the levels needed?

“It’s true Spurs are putting a new contract offer in front of Kane but, of course, there is no chance of him signing that at the moment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Bayern Munich did come in with an offer of £120m for Harry Kane this summer, Spurs would have to say yes.

As much as we don’t want to let Kane go, that kind of money is huge for a player with a year left on his contract and could be very useful in rebuilding a squad in desperate need of upheaval.
