Lamela – Tottenham’s forgotten man

Erik Lamela has become almost Tottenham’s forgotten man and there were rumours circulating on the net that his career could be over, however the club are fully confident that he will be back in action.

The midfielder has not played for the club in 11 months after struggling to recover from a hip injury which he sustained last season. He has since going on to have surgeries and frustrating setbacks which have kept him away from football.

Lamela has even spent time back in his native Argentina and also in Italy to assist with his recovery, and now it seems like the club are monitoring his progress on a daily basis.

He hasn’t been included in Tottenham’s squad for the Champions League Group Stage which adds more fuel to the fire the he won’t be back in action until at least December time.

The Argentine is expected to return to training with his team mates next month and hopefully he can finally return to full fitness.

Pochettino spoke about Lamela’s current situation at today’s press conference: “Erik, we are happy with his rehab. We expect [him in] early October to join the team and to start the possibility of training with the team. Then we will decide and assess every day when he will be available.

“We are happy. I want to try to translate to our fans that Erik is in a very good mood and is happy. He is doing all the things to try to be fit as soon as possible.”
