No fresh Damiao bid from Spurs

Internacional have raised fresh doubts over the possibility of Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao joining the White Hart Lane ranks by insisting that there have been no further offers for the player from Spurs.

Yesterday, The Sun reported that Tottenham were on the verge of ending their interest in signing Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis and making a fresh approach for Damiao, who is currently on international duty with the Brazilian Olympic squad.

However, Internacional vice-president Luciano Davi has played down the speculation, insisting that the Brazilian club have had no contact from Tottenham but that there have been offers turned down from other clubs.

Davi told Terra “There was no offer from Tottenham, but there were other offers that he rejected… Let’s wait for his return, with the gold medal, to decide what we will do”.

Spurs have long been associated with the Brazilian Olympic star with Chairman Daniel Levy seemingly determined to sign the striker if you believe the speculation.

As of yet however, Damiao remains relatively unproven against opposition such as that which he would face in the Premier League and therefore may not been the most sensible of buys after all considering the large gamble Spurs would be taking with the substantial transfer fee.
