Mark Lawrenson on who will come out on top between Spurs v Burnley

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has given his prediction on who he thinks will win the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley.

Both sides meet at Wembley on Saturday afternoon with Tottenham looking to continue their recent fine run of form.

The Clarets, in contrast, have only won one of their last six matches and are precariously positioned in 17th, just one place above the relegation zone.

Burnley ended a two-month winless run with a 1-0 victory over Brighton last weekend.

After the highs of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League in tense circumstances against Barcelona, Mauricio Pochettino will be aware that his players will need to put it behind them and focus on what is always a physical encounter from Sean Dyche’s side.

Spurs have lost just one of their eight games against Burnley in the Premier League (W5 D2), with that lone defeat coming back in May 2010 (2-4 defeat under Harry Redknapp).

Lawrenson believes that Spurs will continue their push for a top four finish with a win against the Turf Moor outfit.

He told BBC Sport online: “Tottenham have had a very good week. It doesn’t matter that other results helped them reach the last 16 of the Champions League – they had to find a way of getting through, and they managed it.

“Burnley, who got a much-needed win over Brighton last weekend, managed a draw with Spurs at Wembley last year but I don’t see Sean Dyche’s side getting anything this time.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-0.”
