Tottenham Hotspur take on Newcastle United in the third match of the Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs picked up a respectable point away from home against Manchester City last time out after rolling up their sleeves at the Etihad Stadium in a match which they were second best.
Mauricio Pochettino handed a late cameo to new signing Giovani Lo Celso for the closing few minutes of the match.
The Spurs boss was asked at today’s press conference whether the midfielder who is on loan from Real Betis will start against the Magpies.
Pochettino is certainly not taking any risks to rush his compatriot into life at Spurs by insisting that Lo Celso is ‘so far away’ from being in the position to take a place in his starting eleven.
Instead, it looks like the 23-year-old will have to make do with appearances from the bench while he adapts to playing for Tottenham whilst building his match fitness.
Journalist Alasdair Gold covered what Pochettino had to say about Lo Celso on Twitter during the press conference.
"He's training well but is so far away from what we expect from him. We need to give him time and we won't expect too much from him."
