Monaco have told Tottenham to double their offer if they want left winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, according to the Daily Star.

Carrasco becomes the latest in a long line of players to be linked with a move to White Hart Lane over the course of the summer.

The report claims that Tottenham have offered £8million for the Belgian international, but Monaco are holding out for at least £16million.

With us also being linked with a move for Toby Alderweireld, at this rate we’ll be the new Belgium international team.

Carrasco scored six goals in 36 league appearances for Monaco last season and also scored the last goal in their 3-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates last season – we can’t knock him for that!

Do you think Spurs will sign Carrasco?  Have your say below.

  1. If they want that much we’re better off with Shaqiri from Inter, he’s so strong too so he will do well in prem. We need to snap up Nzonzi or Alex Song ASAP though

  2. No team mounting a serious challenge for the Premier League's top four places has achieved this using cheap, cut price players.
The current buying policy at Tottenham dictates that players can be brought in, provided their price tag falls within the region of £10 – £15m. For an average Joe, that may be possible. However, Monaco's Yannick Ferreira Carrasco clearly has talent in abundance, and would obviously cost a possible £15m.

So why has Daniel Levy convinced himself he could get away with offering £8m? Reverting back to the current buying policy following the disastrous dealings of 2013, is virtually suffocating attempts to bring in fresh players. Quality players will always cost more, and there is no escaping that. Add to this the constant rises in player valuations and you soon appreciate the cost of the policy has to rise also. A revised policy of, say, £15m – £25m may seem more realistic in the current market.

Yes, there are players on sale for less, who will perform a certain role and thus there are no surprises if they do not perform well. As the old adage goes, you only get what you pay for. Daniel Levy needs to fully understand that a run of the mill player can contribute so much, whereas a quality player who offers and contributes much more, will carry a bigger price. It is the difference between Champions League football or finishing around mid table.

Daniel Levy should bid sensibly to secure this talent for the future now, or lose him to a rival, for whom those unique skills will be used against us.

  3. we need to buy top quality players or nobody. We are not in Leeds , Wolves, or Sheff Wed position. We have been in top 6 for years. Go for it Stop this inferiority complex. After all we played Arsenal & Chelsea off the park. Get back to Bill Nics standards

  4. dont like giving big money from overseas try konoplyanka on a free if not try shaquri rumours inter want 8 million cheap only want to give big money proven in prem .

  5. THIS PLAYER IS A GENIUS HE MUST BE SIGNED ALONG WITH IMBULA AND ALDERWEIRELD AND A TOP TOP STRIKER THESE PLAYERS WOULD MAKE SURE OF A TOP FOUR SPOT AND MAYBE EVEN IMPRESS LLORIS TO STAY AS CAPTAIN .

  6. I would rather see Clinton Nije signed. We need someone who can run with the ball, this boy has speed and great ball control.
